Quick Answer
Reroll snapshot
Stop on one SS- or S-tier weapon, not a perfect account.
For a new DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow account, the best weapon is the one that keeps your story pace smooth and still feels useful when farming or joining early co-op. Blue Steel Machine Lance and Ryuuou Staff, and Dragon Killer are the current SS-tier premium weapons. Metal Wing, Roto Sword, and Crystal Claw are the three S-tier picks. Ice Staff is a strong A-tier magic keep. Blue Steel Machine Lance is the current highest-priority reroll target. Dragon Killer is a premium dragon-slayer reroll option, but not the default over Blue Steel Machine Lance. Metal Slime Sword is rated A tier overall with S-tier reroll value. Stop rerolling if you pull an SS-tier weapon or any of the three S-tier weapons; Metal Slime Sword is also a safe reroll stop. Metal Wing is also the best main weapon for the Thief vocation. Princess of Radatoom’s Staff is a strong A-tier support pick.

Weapon Tier List
Blue Steel Machine Lance
Top-tier SS. Ice spear with powerful fixed-turret special and arrow-type adventure skills. The current highest-priority reroll target and a safe reroll stop.
Ryuuou Staff
Top-tier SS. 350% special potency matching Roto Sword. The strongest dedicated magic option in the current pool.
Dragon Killer
Top-tier SS. Fire claw with a high-multiplier dragon-slayer special and fire pebble adventure skills. A premium dragon-slayer reroll option for accounts that want fire coverage or dragon-type content.
Metal Wing
Top-tier S. Best main weapon for the Thief vocation. A safe reroll target when repeat-run comfort matters more than perfect burst.
Roto Sword
Top-tier S. Top-class firepower and versatility; wide-range special excels in range and potency, with broad use across high-difficulty content. A safe reroll stop.
Crystal Claw
Close-range lightning claw. Burst after special can exceed Roto Sword on single-target, making it a safe reroll stop and Martial Artist route pick.
Metal Slime Sword
A tier overall with S-tier reroll value. Simple, reliable keeper for players who want to move forward quickly.
Queen’s Whip
Worth keeping when your party plan already supports it.
Flame Sword
Strong when you want a more direct damage route.
Falcon Blade
Good upside, but less universal than the safest S pool.
Princess of Radatoom’s Staff
Party-wide HP recovery special. Best used as a sub-weapon for healing support rather than main DPS.
Ice Staff
Strong A-tier magic keep, especially when your account wants a magic-first carry.
Platinum Wing
Real upside, but less convincing as your only early-account prize.
Sand Spear
More mode-dependent and easier to replace than top-pool weapons.
This list is intentionally conservative. DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow power comes from how vocations, weapons, Blessings, and Memories combine, so this page rewards weapons that work before the rest of the account is perfect. After you pick a weapon lane, use the best vocations tier list and vocation system guide to check whether your class plan actually fits that pull.
Best Weapons by Player Goal
Best reroll stop
Blue Steel Machine Lance is the highest priority; Dragon Killer or any S-tier weapon is a safe stop
Blue Steel Machine Lance is the current highest-priority reroll target. Dragon Killer is a premium dragon-slayer reroll option for accounts that want fire coverage or dragon-slayer content. Stop once you land an SS-tier weapon, Metal Wing, Roto Sword, or Crystal Claw. Metal Slime Sword is also a safe reroll stop with A-tier overall value and S-tier reroll value. A fast start beats chasing a disputed exact No.1.
Best farming comfort
Metal Wing / Blue Steel Machine Lance / Ice Staff
Prioritize these if your main goal is repeat-run comfort, smoother clearing, and less friction during early farming. Blue Steel Machine Lance adds fixed-turret sustained damage for Machine Ruins and Super Monster Rush. Ice Staff is a strong A keep for magic-first accounts.
Best simple keep
Metal Slime Sword / Crystal Claw
Metal Slime Sword for a straightforward first-account path. Crystal Claw when you want strong single-target burst and do not mind close-range play.
Why the SS-Tier Weapons Are Premium
Blue Steel Machine Lance
A top-tier SS ice spear with a powerful fixed-turret special and arrow-type adventure skills. The current highest-priority reroll target, especially strong in Machine Ruins and Super Monster Rush where sustained area damage matters. A safe reroll stop for accounts that want ice coverage or spear-friendly vocations.
Ryuuou Staff
A top-tier SS magic weapon. 350% special potency with wide horizontal range, matching Roto Sword in raw output. The strongest dedicated magic option in the current pool and a safe reroll stop for magic-first accounts.
Dragon Killer
A top-tier SS fire claw with a high-multiplier dragon-slayer special and fire pebble adventure skills. It is a premium dragon-slayer reroll option for accounts that want fire coverage or plan to push dragon-type content.
Why the S-Tier Weapons Are Safe
Metal Wing
Best when your priority is repeat-run comfort. Its value comes from broad usefulness instead of a narrow combo-only plan, which makes it one of the easiest current reroll stops to recommend.
Roto Sword
A top-tier S DQ1 banner weapon. Its surrounding sweep special delivers top-class range and potency, making it effective for both multi-target clearing and high-difficulty content such as Proto Killer Shrines and Super Monster Rush. Keep it as a safe reroll stop if you want a direct damage route with strong story pacing and broad endgame comfort.
Crystal Claw
A strong single-target lightning claw rated S tier. Its burst after special activation can exceed Roto Sword on single-target, making it a full reroll-stop recommendation and the sharper pick for boss-focused play.
What If You Only Pulled A Tier?
Reroll advice
Do not throw away a coherent account just because you missed S tier. If you pulled Queen’s Whip, Flame Sword, Falcon Blade, Ice Staff, or Princess of Radatoom’s Staff with a useful starter setup, it is often better to start playing, unlock systems, and collect launch rewards before the day is gone.
How to Read This Tier List
SS tier means “premium top-tier”
These weapons are the current strongest in the pool, but they are still situational. SS does not mean you must reroll until you get it.
S tier means “stop rerolling”
These weapons are not just strong; they are safe enough that most new players can keep them and start progressing.
A tier means “check your account”
These are good weapons, but they care more about party fit, available support, or the content you plan to push first.
B tier means “do not force it”
These can work, but they are not the cleanest reason to keep rerolling or rebuild your early account around them.
FAQ
Should I reroll until I hit the exact No.1 weapon?
No. For the current launch phase, a shared safe keeper pool matters more than one exact winner. Blue Steel Machine Lance is the highest-priority reroll target, but one SS-tier weapon, one S-tier weapon, or Metal Slime Sword plus a fast start is usually better than endless rerolls.
Why are Blue Steel Machine Lance and Dragon Killer both SS tier?
Both are premium top-tier weapons, but they solve different account jobs. Blue Steel Machine Lance is still the highest-priority reroll target because its fixed-turret special and arrow-type adventure skills are broadly comfortable. Dragon Killer is SS because its fire claw kit, high-multiplier dragon-slayer special, and fire pebble adventure skills give it premium value for fire coverage and dragon-type content.
Why is Ice Staff A tier?
Because it gives safe ranged pressure and a clean magic route, but it is less automatic than Metal Wing for a blank account. It is a strong A-tier stop when the account points toward magic.
Will co-op and challenge modes change this list?
They can. Weapons that stay stable under repeated runs and mixed party setups will gain value whenever co-op bosses or Gauntlette score play become your daily focus.
